Online Courses

Once you become a UA Early College student and pass the UAEC 200 College Readiness Course, you can choose from a broad selection of University of Alabama online courses. We offer online courses year-round, and you have the flexibility to study anytime, 24 hours per day / 7 days per week, anywhere you have access to high-speed Internet.

Courses On Campus

Whether you choose to live on campus with the Summer On Campus students, or commute to campus for summer, you will enroll in regular University of Alabama courses. With high school approval, students who live close to campus may take courses on campus during fall and spring. You will take regular freshman and sophomore level college courses with other University of Alabama students on campus in Tuscaloosa. It’s a great way to earn college credit from a premier university and get a feel for the college classroom setting.

Resources

Take advantage of the University’s academic resources, accessible online or on campus: the UA Libraries, the Writing Center and the Capstone Center for Student Success with free tutoring. On campus, with your photo Action Card you can also access dining facilities. Plus, you are surrounded by the UA Early College support network of peer coaches and student-centered staff.

Summer On Campus Program

Summer On Campus lets you experience college, develop confidence for college study, and get ahead with college courses on The University of Alabama campus. You’ll live in a residence hall, walk the Quad, make great friends and take two college courses per term at UA.

How Do I Apply to the Summer On Campus program?

After you have begun the UAEC 200 College Readiness Course, you will have access to the Summer On Campus request form as well as other required forms, such as an essay, application and references.

What are the Requirements?

To be considered for the Summer On Campus program, you must possess a cumulative 3.0 or higher GPA in high school since the 9th grade and pass the UAEC 200 College Readiness Course with a high grade.

When Do I Attend the Summer On Campus program?

UA Early College offers two, four-week summer terms. Students may participate in either Summer I term (June), Summer II term (July), or both terms.

Online and On Campus Fall, Spring and Summer Terms

  • Fall UA semester is 15 weeks from mid-August to mid-December.
    • Fall II is 10 weeks from September to December.
  • Spring UA semester is 15 weeks from early January to early May.
    • Spring II is 10 weeks from February to May.
  • Summer full term is 10 weeks from June to August.
    • Summer split term is four weeks, either June (Summer I) or July (Summer II).
    • Students may participate in Summer I, Summer II or both.
