What Is LEAP?

LEAP, or Leaders Exploring Academic Possibilities, is a summer program designed for rising high school freshmen. Hosted by UA Early College at The University of Alabama, LEAP offers students an opportunity to engage in academic, leadership, and service-oriented activities over a span of five days. The program aims to provide these young students with a taste of college life, foster leadership skills, and encourage community service involvement.

During the program, participants take part in various team-building exercises, engage in activities related to The University of Alabama majors, and have the chance to contribute to community service initiatives in Tuscaloosa. LEAP helps students explore their academic interests and develop leadership qualities while also emphasizing the importance of giving back to the community.

Twelve smiling LEAP students have fun posing together in the shape of an A, on the front steps of Clark Hall, on The University of Alabama campus.

In 2024, LEAP offers two camp options: one from June 3 to June 7, and another from July 15 to July 19. The application process for LEAP 2024 opens on January 1, 2024, and closes on March 1, 2024. Students who meet the criteria and are interested in the program can submit their applications during this period.
