Newsletter - January 2011

UA Early College
from an Early College student:
"In the beginning, I expected to learn how online classes work and to get a grasp of how to do college-level work -- but I got so much more.
Now, I have a feel for college work and the commitment it takes.  In my upcoming classes I expect to interact with my fellow students, face challenging assignments, and prepare to be a full-time college student in the future."

The Summer Residential Experience with UA Early College
Early College students, you can spend part of your summer with us, here on the beautiful UA campus in Tuscaloosa.

    • Live in Ridgecrest West, a modern suite-style dorm with private bedrooms, living/dining area, and kitchenette.
    • Dine at the many locations on campus that accept Dining Dollars -- for hot meals, sandwiches, burgers, pizza, coffee, food markets, etc.
    • Take 6-7 credit hours on campus!  Last year, Early College students took courses such as Chemistry, Ethics, Working Lives, Critical Decision-Making, Psychology, Geography, Spanish, German and Public Speaking.
    • Use UA Libraries for quiet study and research -- you can even grab a coffee or sandwich downstairs in Gorgas Library when you need a break.
    • Work out at the UA Rec Center -- check out the fantastic climbing wall and outdoor pool.
    • Make new friends, spend time with peer coaches, and participate in all kinds of UA Early College activities!

The Summer Residential Experience will take place during Summer I term: May 30-June 30.  If you are a current student or parent, we will soon send you email with more detailed information.  You can also email us anytime, or call 1-877-823-8759, for more information.

    Other Summer Options

As always, Early College offers courses online during summer full term (10 weeks, May 31-August 5).  Students who live within a reasonable commuting distance may also elect to drive to campus daily for on-campus courses.
